Landing at Landings 2018

When I was born it was a freezing Sunday morning. In Bulgaria, people born on Sunday are considered really lucky. I am not the most superstitious of people but the recent events totally proved that. Here is why:

Being out to travel and take images plus the added workload of exam time in my second BA in Cultural Studies, I happened to miss out on some of the activities that were on during the module. Hence, when Libby Nightingale contacted me on Facebook to ask if I was participating, my first reaction was 'Participate where?' and then she explained what the whole thing was about and how behind schedule I actually was. Long story short - I had totally missed the deadline.

However, since I don't happen to be a quitter, I decided to drop a line to the curator team and I was told YES. To my surprise Andrew Barrow (who was the first to respond) told me that I had nailed the right time to come and ask since that day was the last possible day for anyone to jump on the bandwagon. They had a lot of submissions and work BUT there was still time to join them IF I submit my work NOW.

Who said something about luck? There it was. I had totally missed the deadline (by three weeks, to be exact) and I didn't even know it existed. Hadn't it been for Libby to message me, I would have missed that opportunity altogether.

Studying a lot of things simultaneously has taught me to work really quickly when necessary so I immediately looked through the themes and selected one (more about this in a follow-up post). Then it turned out I have just the right material to participate and within two hours I managed to sort of make up for me being away for the past few weeks (more about that in another post).

Currently, my Landings 2018 contribution has it's own website and I have sent out all things required by the curating team. That is how I landed with a participation at Landings - at the last possible time BUT better late than never, as my credo goes.
